Exciting a system at its resonance frequency typically results in large vibration amplitudes. Also impulse excitation leads to vibrations in its own resonance frequency. Low damping yields especially high vibration amplitudes in case of continuous excitation and in a long settling time in case of impulse excitation.
Since damping has a negative effect on the passive isolation efficiency, only a selective resonance damping makes sense. Such a selective resonance damping reduces the unwanted large vibration amplitudes and long settling time, while keeping the isolation efficiency at higher amplitudes.
An active resonance damping is available as optional add-on feature for our vibration isolators. It is realized by a contact-less voice coil actuator.
